It’s Harry Trumans Birthday Today, and He’s a Taurus, Just like Me. I’m Rather Proud of That.
We Taureans are generally plain-spoken people, sometimes accused of being moveable as a rock, but that’s okay. I prefer to think we’re well-grounded, but the buck absolutely does stop with us. Willie Nelson is another and, although I seldom perform in public, when I’m alone driving the car, I can belt out a song or two at high volume.
Grounded is good as well, particularly in the rough political times we’re experiencing today. We’ll get through this. Much will be changed, but we’ll get through, and recover stronger. A quote of Harry’s comes to mind:
“Once a government is committed to the principle of silencing the voice of opposition, it has only one way to go, and that is down the path of increasingly repressive measures, until it becomes a source of terror to all its citizens and creates a country where everyone lives in fear.”
We’re not there yet, and we’re not going there. The headlines would make us think so, but we are a nation full of kind people, who would take you in in a moment on a dark night when it’s pouring rain. Sit you down for a hot coffee, food if you’re hungry and a sofa if you’re worn out.
Harry Truman is there for us and, thank god, so is Willie. Asked about dying, Willie said, “Oh, I don’t worry about that, I’ll be back in ten minutes.”
America won’t be back in ten minutes, we have a long climb ahead of us.
But, we’re good climbers.
