John Dillinger Named "Banker of the Year"
Journal Grants Gonzales A Superlative

The tide of bad news and controversy that forced Alberto R. Gonzales from office earlier this year has earned him a dubious honor: The former attorney general has been named Lawyer of the Year by a legal affairs magazine.
The January 2008 issue of the ABA Journal, a publication of the American Bar Association, bestowed the title on Gonzales as the most notable newsmaker in the legal world in 2007.
. . . "It's about who has had the most effect in the world of lawyers this year," Adams said. "We're not saying Gonzales is good or bad. We're just saying this is the leading newsmaker in our part of the world."

John Dillinger (June 22, 1903 – July 22, 1934) was an American bank robber, considered by some to be a dangerous criminal, while others idealized him as a latter-day Robin Hood. (Wikipedia) The former holdup man has been named Banker of the Year by a financial affairs magazine.
The January 1934 issue of the ABA Journal, a publication of the American Banking Association, bestowed the title on Dillinger as the most notable newsmaker in the banking world in 1933.
"It's about who has had the most effect on banking in 1933," a spokesman said. "We're not saying Dillinger is good or bad. We're just saying he is the leading newsmaker in the banking part of the world."
Incredibly, this high water-mark of stupidity on the part of the American Bar Association is being done at a time when the writer's strike prevents Jay Leno, Jon Stewart and David Letterman from getting their oars in that high water.
