Out with the old, outdated American Constitution and in with the new.
We, the Business Interests of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Profitability, ensure Domestic Acquiescence, provide for the Corporate Defense, promote the General Subservience, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and Our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Corporate Constitution for the United States of America.
A little harsh for you? Perhaps not, when you take a look at what’s happened to We the People.
The old Constitution is out the window, no longer fit for purpose. Elon and the Tech Bros are the new framers, and our twice elected criminal president leads the parade. The question remains, who will march?
I’m fighting a cold that’s had me in a bathrobe for a week, and it’s made me grumpy. Trump’s abandonment of Ukraine, support of Israel, threatening sovereign nations and hours-long conversations with Putin (as if he was an ally) hasn’t helped. I’ve lived under every president since (and including) FDR, and this is new territory for me. Some have been better than others, but I’ve ever known one to be anti-American until now.
I will recover from this cold, and our nation will survive this president, but that doesn’t make my nose any easier to blow.
Let’s take a quick look at what the Heritage Foundation, and our billionaire ownership, have given us for a 250th Anniversary Gift.
It’s titled Mandate for Leadership, the Conservative Promise, Project 2025. In case you were attending to other matters (and why would you not be?), Project 2025 is ‘a comprehensive conservative plan to centralize presidential power by dismantling much of the federal bureaucracy and reshaping government to enforce a hard-right ideological agenda across the executive branch.’
Really?
I guess the billionaire class really is writing us a new constitution.
Trump claims to know nothing about it. “Never heard of it,’ he claims, yet, in twenty-six days short of the first year of his second term, he has accomplished 47% of its goals by executive order. No permissions in the Congress, no approvals in the Senate, no acquiescence by the Supreme Court. Just the flourish of his absurd felt pen, and three more years to abandon a 250 year-old heritage of America, paid for in blood, to the whims of a conservative think-tank positioning itself as a Heritage Foundation.
Thank you very much, but no thanks. The foundation of America’s heritage runs far deeper than an attempted coup by partisan politics.
This too will pass.
As will my cold.
Merry Christmas, and all good wishes in the coming year, no matter what god you worship (or none at all) or where in the world you live in these difficult times…
