War Crimes by Nations
When does a nation get over its war crimes? 70 years? A full century? Why are we so unable to get past all that and realize that the Japan or Germany of today is three generations past Hideki Tojo and Adolph Hitler?
Having just watched news of Britain's celebration of the 70th anniversary of victory over Japan in WWII, it seemed strange to commemorate by re-opening these long-closed wounds.
Who decides who is criminal? The victors of course.
Had the other 'Axis' won, would we 'Allies' have found ourselves in the dock for the fire-bombing of Dresden or bombing of Hiroshima?
Does it never get over, the Holocaust or Bataan Death March?
Just a thought as the Queen attends VJ Day and Japan wonders.
