Panel Sends Mukasey Nomination to Senate

The Senate Judiciary Committee today narrowly voted to approve the nomination of Michael B. Mukasey as attorney general despite the opposition of most of the panel's Democrats over his refusal to say whether an aggressive interrogation tactic constitutes illegal torture.
The committee's 11-8 vote sends Mukasey nomination to the full Senate, which is expected to confirm him in a floor vote to be held by next week.

I was told by a friend a couple years ago that I am the last American who gives a shit.
I would hope that's not true (then or now), but the Schumer-Feinstein cave-in to the White House is typical of such a long, long list of incumbents voting against the wishes of those who incumbented them, that I wonder. I really do.
Pelosi, Reid, the idiot (who once ran as vice president) Lieberman, Schumer, Feinstein--the list grows rather than diminishes. We have become the victim of (and agreed-to by our lack of rage), a government that doesn't make a whit of difference between Republican and Democrat, conservative and liberal, thief and burglar, bribed and otherwise corrupt.
We have become, at long last, a true banana republic and if we held out hopes that the 2006 or 2008 elections would reverse the trend, the above-mentioned crooks have put the lie to that.
