I've applied many "...cracies" to this administration, but not yet "pathocracy." Yet it seems just as apt as the others, if not more so. If I'm being optimistic, I consider us an idiocracy, but I'm not optimistic so much anymore.
Probably so, Robert, but so far as I know in watching the scene since FDR, I'm not sure we ever had a truly pathological president. Certainly, many terrified Republicans are taking on that definition these days...
I can't help but wonder when this "pathocracy" becomes a public health crisis. There is still a large number of people in support of the behavior of these "leaders".
From an outsider looking in perspective, it feels like a mass psychosis event.
We have been rewarding the flavors of this behavior for far too long, and it's resulted in validating the behavior of people in the general public who already had pathological tendencies. (Speaking from personal experience alone regarding people I care about in my life.)
Psychopaths have long lorded over our business communitty, just 'friendly looking' ones, and the internet is a hotbed of like minds on wildly psychotic issues. We simply never had so many public platforms for them. It's already a public health issue. Suicide rates among children are way too prevelent.
I would agree that the internet is exacerbating the issues. I guess I just wish someone would actually do something about it. However, it also seems that as soon as someone tries to resolve one issue, another appears.
The internet is simply 'there,' CL. How we access or use it is still up to us. On the olus side, I can access anything I care to...Johnny Carson before you were even born, every Clint Eastwood movie, all all NFL football, if I'm willing to see them a day after...
