There’s a Better Way to Do This

I’ve written on this before, but it’s insane that we allow private automobiles to clog up access to our precious National Parks. It’s both exhausting and dangerous for tourists, and worse for animals, acclimatizing them to human contact and interrupting their migration routes.

A suspended monorail, supported by pylons no more than ten feet off the ground, would give a clear view of park animals, without restricting their movement while separating them from idiot people with no more sense than to walk up to them, often with children.

Stops would be allowed to observe animals, while stopping at major buildings, hiking trails, campgrounds, dining rooms and toilets. After the parks close, supplies could be brought in, refuse removed and staff sent home, only to be brought in again before the park reopens..

Expanded parking lots and appropriately designed hotels would be built at park entry and exit points. Both animals and tourists are winners.
